MMS

MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) is a technology that allows mobile subscribers to create and exchange text messages with image, audio and video attachments.

A highly useful and expressive medium, multimedia messaging has a similar effect on mobile messages as photo attachments and rich text has had on e-mail communications. Following the on-going surge in demand for mobile phones with powerful graphics capabilities, this technology is becoming increasingly popular.

To answer the needs of this emerging market, InterObject has developed an advanced MMS technology infrastructure, which may be employed by software developers to achieve the highest levels of functionality and reliability, while significantly cutting time to market.

MMS Presentation SDK

InterObject’s MMS Presentation SDK is based on the company’s field-proven SMIL technology. It has successfully been deployed with MMS and UM (Unified Messaging) solutions in both Europe and South Korea.

The Presentation SDK facilitates the creation, editing and playback of MMS/SMIL presentations. While the SDK does not provide a GUI, and is also not limited to any particular graphical user interface, it includes test composition and playback software components that feature an HTML-based GUI, which demonstrates its use.

InterObject’s MMS Presentation SDK provides the following key features:

Message Composition:

• Presentation creation/editing

• Presentation slide addition/removal

• Slide media addition/removal

• Slide/media property settings - duration, layout, transition, animation

• Dynamic handset capability settings - screen size, supported media, SMIL features, etc. The generated presentation will conform with preset capabilities

• Media adaptation according to features supported by a particular handset

Playback - according to preset handset capabilities

The MMS Presentation SDK supports the following media:

• AMR, AAC

• I-Melodies, E-Melodies

• WBMP, PNG, GIF, JPEG

• Unicode, XHTML

• MPEG-4 video, MP4 and 3GP files

• MPEG-4 video and AAC or AMR RTP streaming, according to 3GPP TS 26.234

• SMIL support conforms with 3GPP R5, though it may be limited to specific handset capabilities

Software developed using the SDK may be packaged as:

• Microsoft ActiveX Components

• Plug-ins for Netscape version 4.7 or higher

• ANSI C APIs

• MS PocketPC/Windows CE/Windows Mobile

• Symbian OS
